Not all books are safe for water play. Compare the durability, safety, and fun of a dedicated bath book with a regular paper book, and see why Mr. Lion's journey is a top choice.
Quick answer
For safe water play, choose a dedicated bath book. Regular paper books are not waterproof and can damage easily, while a bath book like Mr. Lion's journey is designed to withstand splashes and encourage imaginative fun.
Why regular books fail at bath time
Regular books are made from paper and cardboard that absorb water, causing pages to wrinkle, tear, and become unreadable. The ink may also run or transfer onto your baby's hands. They are not designed for wet environments and can become a safety hazard if small pieces break off.
How bath books are made for water play
Bath books are constructed from waterproof materials like thick, durable plastic or coated fabric. They are easy to clean, quick to dry, and built to last through repeated splashes and squeezes. Their bright, engaging illustrations are printed with non-toxic, water-resistant inks, making them safe for babies to handle during bath time.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Durability in water: Bath books are made from waterproof materials that withstand splashes and submersion. Regular paper books absorb water and fall apart quickly.
- Safety for babies: Bath books use non-toxic, water-resistant inks and durable materials that won't break into small pieces. Regular books may have inks that run and paper that tears into choking hazards.
- Play value: Bath books like Mr. Lion's journey are designed for wet environments and feature engaging illustrations that spark creativity. Regular books offer no water play value and are best kept dry. If your baby loves splashing and exploring during bath time, a dedicated bath book is the only safe choice.
